Betsy's transformation: the restoration journey

Join me on an exciting adventure as I bring Betsy, my beloved vintage motorhome, back to her former glory. This will be a journey filled with challenges, small victories, and a whole lot of elbow grease, all while navigating life with fibromyalgia. Come along for the ride and witness her incredible transformation!

The first steps: stripping down Betsy

The restoration of Betsy has begun! The first major task has been to remove all the old cupboard doors. This is a big step towards her complete makeover, as I plan to paint them in the future. Removing them also makes it much easier to give the van a thorough, deep clean – something she definitely needs after sitting unused for a few years.

This restoration is a true testament to fighting through the lethargy that often accompanies fibromyalgia. There are days when every screw dropped feels like a major setback, and handling my large, heavy drill/driver is a real challenge. But despite these hurdles, my stubbornness kicks in, and I keep pushing forward. Every small victory, like successfully removing a door front, is a huge triumph!

Overcoming challenges: stubbornness and screws

That moment of relief: first door off!

You know that feeling when you've been battling something for ages and finally conquer it? That was me, getting the very first cupboard door off Betsy. My drill/driver was far too big and heavy for the job, making it much harder than it should have been. But when that door finally came free, the relief and satisfaction were immense. It felt like a true milestone in Betsy’s restoration, giving me the motivation to tackle the rest!
